(I do specialize in understated, oblique headlines.)
Catholic League head and complete monster Bill Donohue has an uncanny knack to be on the side of wrong and evil on just about any issue of the day. From opposing even basic women’s rights, to protecting pedophile priests, to calling on censorship of movies and TV shows he doesn’t like, Donohue has shown a talent for finding precisely the wrong tack on everything that transcends any party line.
And yesterday was no different, by his statement on the Paris murders by Muslims, titled simply: “Muslims are Right to Be Angry.”
But neither should we tolerate the kind of intolerance that provoked this violent reaction…
What unites Muslims in their anger againstCharlie Hebdo is the vulgar manner in which Muhammad has been portrayed. What they object to is being intentionally insulted over the course of many years. On this aspect, I am in total agreement with them.
Stephane Charbonnier, the paper’s publisher, was killed today in the slaughter. It is too bad that he didn’t understand the role he played in his tragic death. In 2012, when asked why he insults Muslims, he said, “Muhammad isn’t sacred to me.” Had he not been so narcissistic, he may still be alive.
The anti-Western bigotry, the moral equivalence, the blame-the-victim mentality is simply breathtaking. It would make Noam Chomsky (almost) pause in embarrassment. Donohue shows that he stands shoulder-to-shoulder with the jihadists and their inspirations in Sunni Jihadist evil, al Qaeda and ISIS, in their fight against the West. He remains fanatically opposed to free speech, and honestly believes that the victims of the Charlie Hebdo massacre deserved their fates for insulting Mohammed.
What we have in the West is a struggle against the medieval mentality of keeping humanity enslaved in ignorance and brutality. But this is not just about the Muslim fanatics. At least they are honest about their evil, constantly bragging about it on Twitter and celebrating any blood sacrifice to the Shaitan they serve. This is also about the crude, vile little minds of those such as Bill Donohue who, like al Qaeda, would love nothing more than to do away with the Enlightenment and its values. But what it makes it even more disgusting is how he tries to quote James Madison in the end — when the Founders were diametrically opposed to Bill Donohue’s regressive calls for a return to ignorance and theocratic tyranny.
This is not just a struggle with jihadists. For Western civilization to prosper, we must also constantly struggle with evil from within, whether they are Chomskys or Greenwalds from the Left, or else would-be theocrats like Bill Donohue. They all want our society completely destroyed, and any other differences between al Qaeda, the far Left and Bill Donohue are pretty damn trivial by comparison.
